How to Stay a Human In The Modern World?
Truth is always very difficult to accept. But the truth is that our world is corrupted, and we are the corruption eating it. Unfortunately, people have forgotten what it actually means to be a human. We are stuck in our own desires, seeking profit for ourselves, not even thinking about others or the world. Most of us human beings do not realize that such behavior is suicidal. I want to remind all of us what it means to be a human being and what differentiates us from all other living creatures in the world. If at least one of you changes their mind and starts following my recommendations – my mission will be accomplished. But please, don’t forget to pass this knowledge further.
Help others
What would you do if you saw a person lying on the ground in the street? And before saying: “I would call the ambulance and give the first aid”, ask yourself again. Unfortunately, nowadays, 9 out of 10 passers-by would just start filming on their phones if a braveheart decides to help. However, please, do not rush to judge them, as such ignorance hasn’t grown up from nothing. In some countries, people have built a whole business on such a tricky scheme: one lays on the ground pretending to be sick and waiting for someone to try to help them. As soon as this happens, the “victim” starts shouting that they are being robbed or attacked, blackmailing the corn-fed fool. They request money, threatening that otherwise they would keep shouting and even call the police. It usually happens in touristic venues because the tourists may not be aware of such schemes.
Can you imagine now, how it harms the relationships between people? In case there is someone in real need of help, they would never get it and die in the street. If someone comes to you in the street asking for money, you think they need it for booze or drugs, not something significant. And in the internet age, even if nothing like this has happened to you personally, you are still aware of it because of thousands of videos on video hostings. Thus, I really would like to ask everybody, to ask every single person to stop cheating on those who have their best intentions. Some time will pass, and people will stop being afraid of helping others.
Learn to love again
It might seem nonsense, but if you dig deeper, you will understand what I mean. People say “I love you”, meaning they want to have sex, go to a restaurant or for a holiday, or get an expensive gift. Unfortunately, our reality puts such things above innocent feelings. When teenagers start talking about true love – their peers laugh at them. When an adult shares such feelings with colleagues at work, they often say, “why do you need it, just find a girl for a night!” Love is not considered a miracle nowadays, instead, people see it as a problem. Why is that so?
Well, the answer lies in how our culture has changed throughout the years. Fifty years ago, for example, people valued family and children; nowadays – careers and free relationships. Moreover, movies show how problematic real feelings can be in a world where no one values them. Thus, people have learned to hide what they feel and do what society expects from them.
What can be done with this? First of all, the social focus should be changed. Movies should show how great real love can be and that a family is something precious in everyone’s life. It is the primary source of support, and it is more challenging to be single rather than married or in a long-term relationship. Secondly, the government should provide proper support for families. It might be financial support to the families, some bonuses at work for married people and families with children, and healthcare benefits. Families must be promoted!
Focus on living, not earning money
Earning money is being promoted nowadays. People ask how much one makes, not if they like their job, for example. Money is a cult today; people worship money. And it switches the attention from being happy to be rich. Unfortunately, being rich rarely equals being happy. On the other hand, a happy person is more likely to work harder and earn more. Such a simple scheme is being ignored nowadays.
There is no simple recipe for how to unseat the money. The whole economic system should be changed, I guess… Companies should focus on the happiness of their workers. It is happening now in big IT corporations, like Google, for example. But teachers, doctors, and factory workers work to earn and, surprisingly, earn to work more. Modern society does not value people of such professions and must focus on making money instead of being happy. This is the main thing that should be changed.
